You're listening to special programming brought to you by it's where I m.com The content of this program does not reflect the views or opinions of 91.5 Jas and more. The University of Nevada, Las Vegas, or the Board of Regents of the Nevada System of Higher Education. Good morning, Las Vegas. It's Zondra polearm. We're over here, with Sondra. Today, my co host is Does she but hey, yes, thank you for being here. Definitely. Thank you. I'm excited to have our talk. Okay. To dive into what we reviewed. Yes. So we reviewed veggie Street, right big street. Yes, veggies Street is an awesome beacon spot

Unknown Speaker 0:54
to

Unknown Speaker 0:56
have some great comfort food. It's not like your typical when you think, you know vegetarian restaurant or vegan restaurant. You're thinking more like, salad.

Unknown Speaker 1:12
You know, something like?

Unknown Speaker 1:15
Yeah, like bird food or something like that. But no, this has like a street vendor feel to it. Right? So like all that comfort stuff like chicken wings and burgers and stuff like that. Right? If you wanted, you know, yeah. So we'll tell you about some of the things we experienced at veggie Street. And let's dive into it. So we started with the zombie smoothie. Yes. No, I like to just because it started with the Z. Oh, goodness.

Unknown Speaker 1:58
Z and Z. Yes. Right. So I wanted to try the zombie and so the zombie was a great energy smoothie because it had goo Rana Yes. guano.

Unknown Speaker 2:15
Yes. Come on. Look it up. Learn about it. Because gharana is a lot like coffee, caffeine, that caveat coffee. Right. So it's like, it's a plant with a little berry on it. And it has as much caffeine

Unknown Speaker 2:38
as like your Starbucks coffee. Okay. Right. Without the taste and without that, you know, browning of your tongue.

Unknown Speaker 2:48
Right. And it was for me, it was extremely refreshing. I think I remember you saying Zondra when you first tasted it, what was that? That vegetable that you were like? Oh my god. Beets? Yes.

Unknown Speaker 3:02
We need b Yeah, and they're really tough to eat right? They can't they can't be I kind of like my mom got me on beats. So depending on a how you cook them, obviously what you put them with. But yes, I have a friend who's really into the smoothies and she'll make she makes beet smoothies. So I know you had said Ooh, you when you first tasted it, that strong beat taste right. But it was tasty. Like it was really good. Whatever they added with the gharana which I don't think it has a strong flavor.

Unknown Speaker 3:38
You could taste the beat. But there was something else in that dress that made it taste really really good. What popped out for me the beats but for me, I think it was the lime. There you go. That's what it was. Cut that beat. Yes, it did. So it wasn't overpowering. It wasn't too strong. It was tasty. With the with the beets, the lime. Obviously the gharana seeds were in it. I think it's pineapple. There we go. And the spinach. Doesn't that sound good? Mm hmm. It was extremely refreshing. Just the right thickness. I like my smoothies thick. You know, I like that thick smoothie stuff. So for me it was extremely refreshing just the right consistency and you feel it was the right consistency for you. It was perfect. I mean out of all of the smoothies. Kind of for me, was like a mix between smoothie and juice. Okay, it wasn't super thin and but it was right right there. Yeah. So it went down Good. Good. I was like a red flavor because yes. And very refreshing and very tasty. So I

Unknown Speaker 5:00
Obviously the drink was really good. But I'd like when we learned something new what the gharana sees? Yes. That was so cool, right? gharana Yes. So I'm telling you, I checked out the gharana if you'd want to stay away from the caffeine, as far as in the coffee, because it's still going to give you that same energy. I remember we were talking about that. But gharana seeds is definitely something and I had a long day.

Unknown Speaker 5:26
And I definitely needed that. gharana Yes, to keep me going.

Unknown Speaker 5:31
So definitely a good drink to check out. Yes. And then after that, they treated us so good. At veggies. Yes. Winter. Awesome.

Unknown Speaker 5:45
Yes, winter. Thank you. And Eric, thank you. Yes, the owner Eric. Absolutely amazing. Definitely. Yeah, yeah. So we thank you for letting us try all of your tasty treats. And we're gonna get into the next item that we tasted, which was

Unknown Speaker 6:07
poppers. Yes. So they have three different types of poppers jalapeno, yes. You have

Unknown Speaker 6:16
the jalapeno ones obviously and then the chicken poppers we tried.

Unknown Speaker 6:21
And then I'm trying to remember the other ones was it the it was like a beef one. But keep in mind this is not real chicken and beef and right laver chicken flavored beer.

Unknown Speaker 6:34
Yes. Yes. So I know you had a favorite out of those Zahler Pina though those were tasty. Yes, hasty. So they do fry the poppers. FYI, they're not air fried. They do use oil.

Unknown Speaker 6:55
But again, it's that street vendor. Truck type feel. It's not a truck, but it's like that feel of that type of food like carnival food or something like that. So I would the poppers, I'm glad you mentioned they do frying oil. How for me I don't know if it if he felt like this. But they were still light. Did you still feel that they were light even though they were oil? Fry? Yeah, they were delicious. They were light still so they didn't have that heavy you know, heavy feel that sometimes? fried foods can feel you know, they did it for me. They didn't have that. Crispy, obviously on the outside and the inside was

Unknown Speaker 7:41
good. Yes. Alicia case. Yes. extremely delicious on the inside. So again, I want to agree with you. The jalapeno peppers were the popper poppers peppers. Yeah, they were. They were probably my top pick as well. Okay. And then we moved right along. We had so much food. Yes. They were just they just brought it out. Right. But when I left, I didn't feel heavy. You know, I still was energized. I think it was that zombie.

Unknown Speaker 8:15
But I still felt a lot of energy. And my day went through, you know, very smoothly.

Unknown Speaker 8:23
Yes. But the next item we had after those poppers was the sandwiches. We had that sound? Yep. I remember the Yakko Yes, yes. The ACA route. Mm hmm. We did have that as an appetizer as well. We had the Go route. And that was amazing. It's like a potato. It has like a lot of carbs. Yeah. However, it is more nutritious than a potato. I kept popping those. I was like, Excuse me. It was extremely tasty. And I believe, was with the Yakubu did she gave us a particular sauce. Was it that she did and that one was it with poppers. You remember she gave us a

Unknown Speaker 9:11
teeny, teeny okay. Yes, we're that Yucca root and then we did have sauces with those poppers as well. We had like

Unknown Speaker 9:23
it was like a red hummus. Yes. Yes, that's what it was. Yeah. And so those sauces were extremely tasty as well. Yes. The right consistency. I found myself dipping back and forth. I like to double triple quadruple dip in my own but

Unknown Speaker 9:47
I found myself like dipping in all of those sauces.

Unknown Speaker 9:52
Yeah, I think for me, the tahini was really good it was and I again that's what I said for me I was dipping the yucca root because it is

Unknown Speaker 10:00
A potato so I was enough it's like french fries. Just popping it like french fries. Right? Yeah, you know, I'm surprised they don't do it like, you know the shape of a frog, right? Because it was more of a squarish shape or just

Unknown Speaker 10:17
it kind of looked like they were going for like that home fry look. Yes, yeah that you say that. That home fry. Look think about it Eric maybe shape it like a french fry. So that we feel like because they taste I mean, damn, it tastes like it was yes. Now Xena my hair.

Unknown Speaker 10:40
So that yaka route was I extremely enjoyed that dish as well. Okay. Yes, man. So then after the zombie, the appetizers of the poppers and the yucca root. Then we got right into the burgers. Yeah, so we had a chicken burger. And then we had a beef burger, beef burger.

Unknown Speaker 11:06
beef and chicken. I'm glad you said just a reminder. Yes, this is all vegan. So they're not they're not tapping into these animals real.

Unknown Speaker 11:17
Fur.

Unknown Speaker 11:19
Yeah, which sandwich Did did you like? For me? It was a Southwest crispy chicken. Okay. I liked it. I think it was for me the moisture of it. And obviously the flavors for me hit hit a little bit stronger for me. Okay. Yes, no, I went with the beef burger because I actually eat beef. And I like beef.

Unknown Speaker 11:45
So it's really hard to get out of that.

Unknown Speaker 11:50
But that veggie beef burger was hitting pretty good. It had like some, like a cold slow yet cold. Yes. Yeah. And that was very tasty. And then you know, what was a trip? They even had, like, it was like kind of red colored. So it looked like it was medium rare. It was

Unknown Speaker 12:17
because I looked at it.

Unknown Speaker 12:21
I looked at it, you know, but the coleslaw was good. It was.

Unknown Speaker 12:26
You know, I wonder if they have it where you can get that coleslaw on the side because I like little coleslaw. I'm not sure. I mean, we didn't even think to ask, you know, but yeah, that's a good idea. Yeah, we were so busy looking at all the food coming to the table. And so even with that one to Z, the that one was extremely moist. So people their sandwiches were moist. There's no nothing dry. Right? Okay, about the sandwiches. Right? And so to sum the arms if I wanted to mention, because people have various allergies, so you know, with the falafel this the I think it was if I'm remembering correctly, the chicken sandwich ace falafel. Oh, right, right. We did have a falafel too. Oh, yes. I'm sorry. And that was good. But it was like your typical falafel you you would get anywhere else. You know, nothing super exciting about it. It was really good. But just your typical falafel. Mm hmm. I'm glad you brought that up. But with the allergies, so because I can't have peanuts. I can't have peanuts. Oh nature. So they do have soy free and gluten free. Or people who have allergy. So I wanted to make sure everybody knew that. You know, you do have that option. Oh, well, thank you for that point, because I don't have food out.

Unknown Speaker 13:53
Whatever I pretty much want. So thank you for that. Yeah, yeah, definitely. Definitely. A lot of people have some allergy. So hit him up still. Okay, they can definitely cater to what you're looking for. And you know, what did you like before we get to the dessert because we're gonna save that dessert for last. Yeah, there's like a little bit to talk about

Unknown Speaker 14:16
what did you think about the ambiance?

Unknown Speaker 14:21
So we went in and what did you think?

Unknown Speaker 14:26
It was welcoming? Okay, I for me, it was welcoming. It was you know, I like clean cleanliness and looks very clean. It was extremely clean. And, you know, simple. It was simple and wasn't cluttered. Yes, there were motivational,

Unknown Speaker 14:46
you know, quote,

Unknown Speaker 14:49
quotes on the wall. So they were interesting to read while you wait for your, you know, your food. And again, going back to

Unknown Speaker 15:00
How extremely nice winter. And Eric are. They were allowing people if you want to have beefier business cards, you can sit them on there's a table near the front door. Yes. So again, extremely welcoming. Yes. And very clean.

Unknown Speaker 15:18
I like that. Lots of space. And there's outside eating as well. So with the weather being so beautiful right now, it's great to sit outside and have your bed, fed G Street item of choice. And again, I'm glad you brought up as far as the ambiance, with the being clean, welcoming, they have enough tables in there, too, not too close together. Because I know you know, whole pandemic thing and people are like, people may still feel they don't want to be up against, you know, all bummed people. Right. So I felt, you know, the tables were spaced just right. Right. And plenty of room to like, you know, you can have a little party in there either. You know, I love a party. You know, big street party in there. Yeah, after, you know, a sporting event or something like that. Maybe take the kids down there for something. Yeah. Healthy and refreshing. Yeah, definitely. Definitely. I love all of that. So I feel I concur with you. On all of that. You could have a party a little gathering, and it was clean and welcoming.

Unknown Speaker 16:37
And so now we will touch on this fabulous. Dessert.

Unknown Speaker 16:46
So yes, we had a what was that? That carnival? It wasn't?

Unknown Speaker 16:55
He's gonna kill. Right? It was great. It was it was a crate. And you can get like chocolate and banana or strawberry. Yes, you can mix it all. Haha, you can have peanut butter, which to Sheba cannot. But they also have peanut butter you can put in there. And they top it off, but some like, you know, powdered looking sugar. Is it real sugar?

Unknown Speaker 17:27
Like, I don't know that I did not ask if they're using real sugar. He didn't ask. I know that cheese is vegan cheese.

Unknown Speaker 17:37
Vegan. But I don't know about the sugars. So go down there and ask him and when you want like a nice comfort dessert of the crepe is really nice. I like chocolate. So I enjoyed my chocolate and strawberry and banana crepe. It was filling. It was so fill and it was a little thicker than a crepe. Mm hmm. Yeah, because that dough was extremely thick. But again, it is tasty with all the different things they said that they can put in there. So we had a few things in there, which made it obviously filling. So it was it was extremely thick. It was so good. But it was thick. So just please know your desert is going to be filling as well. Right? Yeah, yeah. Now the best thing

Unknown Speaker 18:36
that I had there

Unknown Speaker 18:38
was that ice cream? Yes, that vegan ice that vegan ice cream is so good.

Unknown Speaker 18:48
That they are selling it at other

Unknown Speaker 18:53
vegan vegetarian restaurants right now. Yeah, they have their own brand of ice cream. That's awesome. Yes, they have chocolate and they have vanilla. And so the chocolate was the best because he was

Unknown Speaker 19:12
because he was saying they make that themselves I remember you're asking so is his homemade homegrown your home grown around homemade

Unknown Speaker 19:23
ice cream. Yes. And I had the vanilla and it was the vanilla was there it was tasty. So depending on if you want that strong or light it was still good.

Unknown Speaker 19:35
But the chocolate just tastes like regular old chocolate. Good ol ice cream. Like an old fashioned gel fashion. Yeah, yeah, it was so super delicious.

Unknown Speaker 19:51
And like I said they're packaging it for other restaurants. So it has to be you know top quality right

Unknown Speaker 20:00
People are loving this ice cream. So you know, instead of 31 flavors, maybe you should check out veggie street. You know, I love it. Yes, or vanilla ice cream.

Unknown Speaker 20:13
So that was pretty much it for veggie straight. Yeah, we want to thank you once again for having us to review your restaurant. And if anyone else is interested, for us to do a review in Italy, please reach out, you can find me at Zondra act. It's where I am.com. Unknown Speaker 21:25
Not only to be my fabulous co hosts today, but to also talk about some of the things that you're doing in the community. So you are a LMFT LMFT licensed marriage and family therapist. And transitioning now to body and mind life coach Nice. Yes, I wanted to reach individuals in a more creative way. Okay. And when I say body there, it's proven, health wise, medical wise, that we hold things in the body stress, or whatever the case might be. Think about it, you know, massages, yoga, acupuncture. And so I wanted to incorporate my love of Dance, my love of movement. Yes, you know, that dance, you know, whatever type of dance you like, you know,

Unknown Speaker 22:18
and how to use that. Until people release things of the past. We hold on to negative messaging from yesteryear, or from you know, people have said things and we hold on to those things. Yeah. And so I want to assist people to release overcome the negative thinking so that they can get back to their own identity. Now, what other people said about us, and start loving yourself for who God created you to be all right.

Unknown Speaker 22:51
You know, I went and saw Deepak shocked Excuse me.

Unknown Speaker 22:59
Deepak Chopra,

Unknown Speaker 23:03
here at UNLV last night. Yeah. And you know what? He said, anger is

Unknown Speaker 23:14
from past trauma. Mm hmm. Right. And that really resonated with me because I'm like, Well, I'm, I'm kind of angry a lot. So why am I so angry? It's from things that I've experienced, that are traumatized and through? Yeah, yeah. So I mean, there's a little nugget to think about, you know,

Unknown Speaker 23:38
don't be angry. If you're angry. Why are you angry? And then fix it? Yeah, yeah. So I appreciate you

Unknown Speaker 23:48
telling us about what you do. Now. I also know that you have written a book. Yes, ma'am. So tell us about your Thank you. Thank you again Sondra, for this opportunity. And so the two books that I have right now Oh,

Unknown Speaker 24:06
not one but two. selling on Amazon. It's a daily devotional caught from stress to rest. Okay, we need that in our law. Okay, from stress to rest. Okay. Okay. So that is a daily devotional, and it talks about anxiety,

Unknown Speaker 24:25
thoughts of self harm, let's keep it real. Some of these things were my experience in my own feelings that I've experienced and then from other, you know, friends that I've talked to, again, really easy read because all of us can get to that place of rest, you know, and then the other one is called Daily Press. A daily press is more like a It's interest, but it's more like a journal as well. Okay, asked like your person. Oh, yeah, I asked the wool. I asked the reader to. There's questions in there, okay for the reader to answer to

Unknown Speaker 25:00
To help process these things that you're talking about anger, why am I experiencing anger? Why am I frustrated? How do I handle

Unknown Speaker 25:10
people in my life who are not treating me? Well, and so I have the the reader, right, these answer the questions. Okay. In daily press again, it The purpose is to help us process those things that have happened. How can we grow from those things and not let resentment bitterness, you know, turn us into people we are not.

Unknown Speaker 25:35
So that's the daily press. Well, I wish you had brought my copy of my book with you. sigh I do have it in the car. So Okay. Okay.
